The Prelude
While the builders are busy setting up booths in the exhibition halls, the first social highlight took place on Wednesday. As a prelude to the upcoming fair, representatives from the Monnaie de Paris and their numerous guests meet at the French Embassy.
Thursday: Tension is mounting
AOn the day before the fair, the experts still have the venue almost to themselves. Both at the MDC Marketing Committee and at the 42nd International Technical Forum discussions are mainly about innovations in the field of minting technology and the future of the branch.
As every year on the day prior to the fair: The big "Berlin Auction" traditionally held by Auction House Fritz-Rudolf Künker in the context of the World Money Fair. With total sales surpassing EUR 7.6 million the auctioneers achieved a great result. The most expensive single item was a half imperial from St. Petersburg minted in 1895 which changed hands for the princely sum of EUR 180,000.
