Exclusive Numismatic Treasure from Poland
The Polish state mint MINT OF POLAND, having successfully joined the ranks of internationally leading mints, has been a regular exhibitor at the World Money Fair for years. With exquisite coins of highest minting standards and a fine motif design they have surprised and delighted our visitors time and again.
These pieces are fascinating both as collectibles and as unique examples of minted history. That history began, at the latest, on September 7, 1764 when Stanislaw August Poniatowski was proclaimed King of Poland and one of his first legal acts was to implement a comprehensive currency reform. A passionate coin collector himself, the king convened a numismatic commission to advise him on establishing the first state mint which, based in a palace in BielĂ nksa street, began its work only one year later.
During the following two centuries, this place and the diverse products of the Polish mint have also reflected the nation's eventful history. Closings and re-openings, coins minted for Russian Poland and the new start in reborn Poland - all of this has filled books.

A Modern Enterprise is Founded
So, now we will not look as far back as that, but focus on the year 1991 when the old mint, Mennica Panstowa, was partly privatized and turned into a corporation, and moved to its new premises in Zelazna street, 24 in Warsaw.

On September 24, Lech Walesa, then President of the Republic of Poland, dedicated the the new national mint MENNICA POLSKA S.A. (Mint of Poland). In addition to the production facilities, the impressive building houses the vast collection of the Polish coin cabinet and a library containing over 2,000 volumes of numismatic literature.
The "Mint of Poland Capital Group"
Meanwhile, MENNICA POLSKA S.A. with its four wholly-owned subsidiaries has established itself on the market as a service provider of worldwide renown. The mint's products, which include circulation and commemorative coins, local ducats, medals, tokens and medals of honor in gold, silver and various base metal alloys, are manufactured using state-of-the-art processes. With its sophisticated technical equipment the mint does not only satisfy domestic demand, but also fulfills a wide range of orders from other countries, such as Armenia, Albania, Luxemburg, Israel, the Dominican Republic and Philippines, with outstanding success.

High Minting Capacities Combined with Exceptional Quality
A tour of the manufacturing facilities proves that the mint employs cutting-edge machinery and systems. There are 13 vertical high-speed coin minting presses from the leading brands Gräbener and Schuler and six different models for the computerized production of dies. In addition, latest innovations in minting technology allow to apply color and glass on coins, integrate 3-D holograms and design coins in different shapes.
With a staff of almost 400, among them 29 trained designers, the mint today reaches an output of up to 2 billion circulation coins and 3 million numismatic coins per day. In addition, another 3 million of treasured collector items, so-called local ducats, have been issued since 2006. This currency is emitted only in certain places and on certain occasions, and the exchange value of its coins is limited in time. The largest number issued of these special pieces was 300,000 of the "Gdansk Taler" in 2009.

During the past years, many of the distinguished products of the Polish mint have been awarded on several occasions - most recently at "Coins 2010" in Petersburg.
Guest of Honor at the 40th World Money Fair
We are extraordinarily pleased that the MINT OF POLAND, represented by its president and general manager Tadeusz Steckiewicz and several other members of its dedicated staff, will design the especially privileged booth of the World Money Fair's guest of honor. At the same time, we are eagerly waiting to see which exclusive historical and contemporary items our colleagues will bring from Poland to intrigue and amaze us during the days of the event, from January 28 to 30, 2011.
To those who would like to learn more about the current coin programs of the Polish mint in advance, we recommend to visit the mint's website with lots of additional information at www.mennica.com.pl.
